Bernice Mills, 84, of Landville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 19, 2021, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, after a short illness. She was born September 19, 1936, in Mingo County, the daughter of the late James and Margie Mae (Cline) McClanahan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Mills; her daughter, Cheryl Ann Pack; her parents-in-law, Jim and Gustie Mills; and several brothers and sisters. Bernice was a Christian of the Baptist faith. She worked as a teacher’s aide and as a special needs aide for the Logan County Board of Education, retiring after 30 years of service. She enjoyed reading, animals, and helping people. Bernice liked to cook and fed half of the community. She was young at heart keeping up with current trends and events. Bernice was strong-willed and stubborn yet was a lot of fun to be around. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her including her fur babies, Halo, Faith, and Max. Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Candace Hixenbaugh of Landville; three grandchildren, Sarah Washington and her husband Dereck of Landville, Emma Mooney of Waynesburg, PA, and Caley Mooney of Landville; and her niece and nephew, William and Debbie Marich of Kistler; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2021, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. According to Bernice’s wishes in Lieu of flowers and gifts, she wanted donations to be made to her grandchildren.
