CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Wednesday, Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper was admitted to a hospital. He reportedly had experienced a heart attack on Monday and had quadruple bypass surgery on Thursday. With a long-time public official experiencing a serious health concern, expressions of condolences and concern started rolling in.
Then there was a plot-twist.
Lootpress received a statement from Commissioner Carper’s daughter, Virginia Carper, denying allegations of “inappropriate conduct,” instead blaming any incident on her father’s “illness and confusion.”
Around the same time, other news outlets, including WCHS TV, reported on an anonymous tip regarding an incident that took place on Monday in Daniel Boone Park, the same day as the heart attack, that was being investigated by law enforcement agencies.
Charleston City Attorney Kevin Baker denied FOIA requests by WOWK, MetroNews, and others, citing an ongoing investigation.
Lootpress will have more on this breaking story as it develops.
