With two coal fired units cranking out 5 million megawatt hours of steady and stable electric power annually, the 1,600 MW Mitchell Power Plant in Marshall County consumes about 2.5 million tons of West Virginia coal a year.
The Mitchel Power Plant provides 185 direct jobs and supports another 476 jobs in the local economy. Combined, the 661 direct and indirect jobs account for $64.8 million in wages.
The plant has a total economic impact of $418.5 million per year, burning West Virginia coal to make affordable and reliable power for the Mountain State.
