NORTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A two-vehicle accident occurred Monday at the Norton intersection of U.S. Rt. 48 and Rt. 151 near Leslie Equipment.
Reports from Deputy T.J. Knotts of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department indicate that a call for service was received on Monday for the accident, which involved a black Ford Focus and a white Chevrolet Suburban.
Upon Deputy Knotts’ arrival on the scene, the Ford Focus was observed to have sustained front end damage, and was facing Westbound in the Eastbound lane.
The Suburban was on its top with extensive damage, and was also in the Eastbound lane.
The driver of the Suburban was flown from the scene via HealthNet Aeromedical to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment for severe injuries to the back and head.
The driver was undergoing surgery at the time the report was made. As such, the extent of the driver’s injuries are unknown at this time.
The driver of the Ford Focus received a citation for failing to yeing at an intersection. This driver was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation. Deputy S.R. Davis, along with multiple entities from Barbour and Randolph Counties provided assistance on the scene.Â
