BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Englo Global, an eco-friendly company out of Bluefield, is making the move to Beckley.
Hedrick said the road would be long but would ultimately and hopefully make Raleigh County a leader in coal-based fertilizer.
According to Hedrick, Englo recently partnered with professors and engineers at Mississippi State and George Washington University, where they have developed, tested and patented products made with West Virginia coal. Prior to partnering with Mississippi State and George Washington University, ENGLO was a company focused specifically on dust management.
Coal-based fertilizer, which stays in the ground longer than other fertilizers, will not pollute the water because it is made mostly from a natural element. Additionally, when some of the coal-based fertilizer does eventually run into the streams, it will act as a water filter, carrying out present contaminants with it.
On Thursday, Hedrick joined with Englo, George Washington University and Mississippi State University at the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley to highlight the project and explain the features and benefits of the new technology.
During the meeting, Hedrick announced that they had found a building in Beckley for Englo to house their pilot factory.
“A year ago, we had no building, and this year we do,” Hedrick said. “We are taking that next step in our project.”
Hedrick said they are currently working to get funding and grants to support the factory. When the factory is up and running, he believes Beckley can become a green and clean industry.
“We want to push and continue to see this thing through. That is our goal. Someday, we hope that Beckley will be known for providing green energy, jobs and products that can be sold all over the world. It may seem a ways off and a big dream, but you don’t get there unless you start.”
