RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Ronceverte has indicated that the city Splash Pad attraction will be shut down throughout the duration of the Boil Water Advisory issued for the City of Lewisburg on Tuesday.
The announcement by the city was made on Wednesday, and stated that the city had been informed by the Greenbrier County Health Department that the Splash Pad would not be permitted to operate until such a time as the Lewisburg Boil Water Advisory is brought to a conclusion.
The announcement also addresses concerns from some customers that an advisory issued to a separate city should not impact an attraction in the City of Ronceverte.
“Some citizens have asked why the City of Ronceverte is under a boil water advisory when the issue occurred in Lewisburg,” read the statement.
“The City of Ronceverte purchases our water from Lewisburg (we have not had our own water plant for over twenty years), so when Lewisburg is on a boil water advisory, we are required to be, as well. We hope that clears up any confusion. Thank you for your understanding.”
The advisory, issued on Tuesday, will accommodate the addressing of a reported 12-inch maintain leak which has been impacting residential water service.
While it is unclear at the time of writing specifically how much time repairs are anticipated to take, the city has issued a projected date for a lifting of the advisory for Thursday, August. 24, 2023.
All customers will be notified at the time the advisory is lifted. All questions or concerns related to the advisory should be directed to the City Water Plant at (304)647-5585.
