Mae Elizabeth “Tizzy” Gwinn, 94 of New River Road, Hinton passed away peacefully Wednesday March 27, 2024 at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA following a long illness.
Born September 26, 1929 in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Guy and Cordelia Mae Bragg Garrett.
Ms. Gwinn was a homemaker and loved gardening, canning, and cooking. She made a gracious and welcoming home and loved her entire family and spending time with each and every one of them. Ms. Gwinn was a member of the Church of God and attended as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Howard Edward Gwinn; one brother, Edward Guy Garrett and three sisters, Jo Ann Bragg, Lucille Ballis and Helen Colleen Fleshman Smith; son-in-law, Lee McClanahan.
Left to cherish her memory include four daughters, Karen Gillispie and husband Fred of Hillsville, VA, Donna McClanahan of Moneta, VA, Anita “Sue” Thomas and husband Sidney of Hinton and Jennifer Webb and husband Brian of Wytheville, VA; eleven grandchildren, Tracy Webb, Dakota Terrell, Brian McClanahan, Jodi McClanahan, Kemberlee McClanahan, Anthony Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Simon Redden, Justin Webb, Derrek Webb and Kurstin Webb; nine great grandchildren, Jonathan Webb, Alex Webb, Jackson Cox, Gracie Kisner, Tommy Cox, Sophia Middaugh, Harlee Nutt, Kolbe Thomas and Elijah Thomas; great, great granddaughter, Addison Webb and expectant great, great grandson, Tobias Kisner also survive, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday April 1st, 2024 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton. Burial will follow in the Bragg Cemetery on New River Road, Hinton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
