MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)– A man was arrested on August 5 for driving under the influence while his license was suspended.
Dispatch placed an alert on a white Ford truck that left a BP gas station on Oakvale Road. An officer spotted the truck at a Sheetz gas station on Oakvale Road driven by James Duff Jr. Duff left his engine running and went inside the Sheets.
“The trooper observed that Duff exhibited a low, raspy voice and slurred speech. This trooper observed that Duff’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy and that Duff exhibited gait ataxia (the presence of abnormal, uncoordinated movements),” said the report.
The officer asked Duff to participate in the three field sobriety tests, and Duff responded that he was too intoxicated to take the tests. The officer searched the vehicle, and the officer found one Alprazolam tablet, 43 Gabapentin tablets, a schedule V and schedule IV controlled substance. No prescription bottles were found inside the vehicle.
According to the report, Duff’s had 12 previous convictions for driving suspended since 2011.
Duff agreed to a blood draw analysis at Princeton Community Hospital. Officers charged Duff with DUI and driving while license revoked for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
