FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Matoaka woman was sentenced to prison on Thursday for failure to register a new home address with the West Virgina State Police.
According to Prosecuting Attorney for Fayette County, Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., in June of 2023, Troopers with the West Virginia State Police received information indicating that Tina Pendergrass had relocated from her registered residence in Kilsyth, Fayette County.
As a result of a 1993 conviction for Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Use of a Minor in Filming Sexually Explicit Conduct, Pendergrass was required to register for life as a sex offender. These requirements also entail registering a new address with the WVSP upon relocating.
Upon receiving this information, an investigation was conducted which did, in fact, determine that Pendergrass had moved without notifying the proper authorities.
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, Tina M. Pendergrass – 52 years old of Matoaka, WV – was sentenced by Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr. to one to five years in prison for the felony offense of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender Required to Register for Life.
Pendergrass pled guilty to this offense on November 11, 2023, and must serve a minimum of one year in prison before potentially becoming eligible for parole. This investigation was conducted by the West Virginia State Police, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Sarah F. Smith.
