MONROE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Monroe County is introducing Virtual Voter ID Cards with AI technology for the first time in the State and possibly the Country as a whole.
Jeremy Meadow, who is the Monroe County Clerk, announced that his office has been making things more accessible for the citizens of the county. One of the latest upgrades is Virtual Voter ID Cards, which will reside on your smartphone. Meadows says you don’t have to worry about tearing up the paper, washing them, losing them, etc. You can snap a selfie from your home, and the system will automatically crop the picture.
If you are wondering how they will know it is genuinely you, check this out: you will snap a picture of your Driver’s License or ID, and AI technology will determine the similarity between the images. Once completed, it will notify the clerk’s office, which will approve the picture.
Are you going to vote? Open your Virtual Voter’s ID card, and the poll worker can scan the barcode. It’s that simple! All of this takes place on a very secure server with multiple layers of security. Decide you want a physical card; you can request one from the app. Within 24 hours, it will be mailed to you.
Meadows adds, “We are excited to keep moving our little county forward in the state and now the Country. Soon this will integrate with Apple Wallet Stateoogle Wallet! We are excited to offer you, the Voter, this service free of charge! Below is just an example of what it will look like. This will change when the final version comes out.
Other recent upgrades include the county’s website and smartphone app to allow push notifications in emergencies or essential information. Voting equipment was also upgraded.
Last year, Gov. Justice presented a 5 million dollar check to Monroe County for courthouse renovations.Â
