OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Officials issued a statement Monday regarding a helicopter which has been observed by Wyoming County residents traversing the skies throughout the area.
The vehicle was acknowledged Monday in a statement from the Oceana Fire Department disclosing the nature of the aircraft and urging those who witness it to remain calm.
The release indicates that the helicopter has been inspecting structures and lines throughout the area for a number of weeks and is being operated by an affiliate of AEP.
“Over the past couple of weeks, a contractor for AEP has been flying over in a helicopter inspecting transmission lines and structures,” read the statement from the Oceana Fire Department.
“This will continue in the near future. They are in our area today as well. Do not be alarmed if you see them flying low.”
Some residents expressed relief at the information, indicating having seen the aircraft circling the area and suspecting that a search of some sort may have been underway.
