WESTOVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wednesday morning traffic accident involving multiple vehicles has resulted in the death of one driver.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, March 19, 2024, at approximately 6:12 am, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 79 Southbound near the Westover interchange.
The accident involved a Ford Escort, a Mack truck, and a West Virginia Courtesy Patrol Vehicle.
Law enforcement states that, according to preliminary reports, the Ford Escort lost control on the bridge and was struck by the Mack truck.
The driver of the Escort passed away as a result of injuries sustained from the crash. The Mack truck driver and Courtesy Patrol Officer were not injured.
Monongalia County Accident Reconstruction Team, Westover VFD, Granville VFD, Granville Police Department, Mon EMS and West Virginia Courtesy Patrol provided assistance at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation and additional information is not being released at the time of writing.
