POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mason County man who faced malicious wounding charges is now being charged for First-Degree Murder following the fatal stabbing of his father.
According to the Point Pleasant Police Department, on Saturday, December 9, 2023 , members of the Point Pleasant PD were called to a residence on Lincoln Avenue in  Point Pleasant, WV in reference to a reported stabbing .
Upon officers arrival at the scene, Charles L. Neal – 61 years old – was discovered sitting on his porch. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his body and was immediately transported to Rivers Health for medical treatment before later being flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
A subsequent investigation determined that Neal’s son Charles L. Neal II – 41 years old – the person responsible for the stabbing. Neal was arrested for malicious wounding was transported to the Western Regional Jail for holding and arraignment.
On Sunday December 10, 2023, Mr. Neal Sr. reportedly succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.
As a result, the suspects charges have been modified to that of First-Degree Murder. Neal is being held without bond at the time of writing.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities believe the attack to have been an isolated incident, and thus believe that the incident posses no threat to the community going forward.
