Mount View head coach Gary Brown confirmed to Lootpress Wednesday morning that the school would not field a boys basketball team this season.
Brown, who had six players come out to play this season, had mulled the idea of whether or not to field a team for several days before ultimately making the call.
Northfork, which was consolidated into Mount View in the mid-80s, fielded the most prolific basketball dynasty in state history winning a record eight consecutive state championships from 1974-81 as well as titles in ’71 and ’84.
Population and enrollment have dwindled at Mount View over the last three decades as it opened as a triple-A school, dropped to double-A in 1998 and eventually single-A in 2016.
