CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Supreme Court Justice Beth Walker and Twenty-Third Judicial Circuit (Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan Counties) Judge Bridget Cohee will participate in a virtual panel discussion about careers in the legal profession.
The panel discussion will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 in honor of Law Day and is open to students and classes anywhere in West Virginia.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to ensure sufficient technological capacity. For that reason, participating as a class rather than individually, if possible, is preferred. Please register at https://courtswv.webex.com/courtswv/onstage/g.php?MTID=eeb5868aa6051041b94fc9c c47bf69227.
After the event, a video of the session will be posted on the Supreme Court’s YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_zHDYG-Whdzh7nQPyfsItg.
The panel will include women who work at all levels of the Courts in West Virginia. They will talk about what their work is like, the educational and career paths they took to reach their current positions, and the rewards and challenges of their jobs.
“I am looking forward to participating in this panel with so many other women who work in our profession,” said Justice Walker. “I share the Women in the Profession Committee’s desire to inspire women to consider careers in the judiciary.”
Judge Cohee said, “This is part two of the educational events the Women in the Profession Committee is hosting this year in honor of Law Day. The first was a statewide contest for students K-12 using a variety of creative expressions. Students submitted work from all over the state and will be invited to attend this panel and a virtual award ceremony. We hope to make these events annual.”
Law Day was founded in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to celebrate the American legal system, and events are held on or near May 1.
