YADKINVILLE, NC (LOOTPRESS) – The Yadkin Arts Council announces their 2024 Willingham Theater Season and Special Events. This schedule is filled with a curated collection of performing arts and entertainment featuring an array of live music, musicals and plays, fundraisers, and family programming. January 13 @ 7:30pm – Sounds of the Mountains Series with Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper – in partnership with the Blue Ridge Music Center- $35
Michael Cleveland is the most awarded International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Fiddle Player of the Year, with twelve wins to his name. He is a six-time winner of the IBMA Instrumental Performance of the Year and his band, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, has won Instrumental Group of the Year seven times.
January 20 @ 7:30pm – Sounds of the Mountains Series with Maia Kamil and the Queen Bees – in partnership with the Blue Ridge Music Center – $20
From the mountains of the Galilee to the backwoods of North Carolina, singer-songwriter Maia Kamil is at home in the world. Maia has spent years refining a musical style that weaves eclectic influences, vocal dexterity, and complex lyrics to create tiny worlds in which the listener can get lost.
Queen Bees is a musical collaboration between three North Carolina-based musicians: Award-winning musician and journalist, Molly McGinn; renowned electronic music producer and songwriter, Quilla; and esteemed musician and creative producer Kate Musselwhite Tobey. They use an uplifting blend of traditional acoustic instruments,modern electronic components and the folk tradition of storytelling to drive unity in social justice causes.
January 27 @ 7:30pm – Sounds of the Mountains Series with His & Hers and Molly McGinn and The Woodshed Experience – in partnership with the Blue Ridge Music Center – $30
His & Hers is a husband and wife fronted Americana folk band from Davie County (Mocksville) North Carolina. Caleb and Sara Davis have been playing together as His & Hers since 2013. They have released three albums, including their latest “Come On In” which came out in 2022.
Molly McGinn along with a talented stable of musicians and friends including Dave Willis, Jared Church, Nathan Turner and DaShawn Hickman are taking the musicians out of the “woodshed”to create a live song-crafting experience that lets everyone in on the process of crafting original music, forged on the fly, and in the fire.
February 10 @ 5:30pm – Night at the Museum Gala with Carolina Soul Band – $100
Experience a Night at the Museum with the Yadkin Arts Council – Tractor Brown’s Museum in Yadkinville that is. Let your favorite artist inspire you for this black tie optional gala where the arts will truly come alive! Channel your inner Picasso, Shakespeare, or Lady Gaga when choosing your best party outfit. The evening will feature a mix of arts, culture, food, and live music by Carolina Soul Band.
February 23 @ 7:30pm – Cinema Spectacular Free Movie Series – 42: The Jackie Robinson Story – FREE
Hero is a word we hear often in sports, but heroism is not always about achievements on the field of play. “42” tells the story of two men—the great Jackie Robinson and legendary Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey—whose brave stand against prejudice forever changed the world by changing the game of baseball. Join us every other month for this Free Movie Series in the Willingham Theater! All attendees will receive free popcorn and bottled water.
March 2 @ 7:30pm – James and the Giant Peach – $24
When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach… and launches a journey of enormous proportions.
March 9 @ 7:30pm – Men In Black – $20
Men in Black is a veteran quintet hailing from Stokes County who play a wide variety of rock and roll from the 60’s through the 90’s.
April 6, 2024 – Yadkin Bluegrass and Old Time Convention
Musicians of all ages are welcome to perform and compete in front of a live audience full of their family and friends. From live competitions to impromptu jam sessions, the toe-tapping sounds of this classic American style of music will be heard throughout the campus of Yadkinville Elementary School all afternoon and evening.
April 11-13 @ 7:30pm / April 14 @ 3pm – Southern Fried Funeral – $24
Dewey Frye is dead and the rest of his family is left to pick up the pieces — that is if they don’t kill each other first. Funerals bring out the worst, the best, and the funniest in people, and the Fryes are no exception. A big-hearted comedy about family — Southern-style.
April 19 @ 7:30pm – Cinema Spectacular Free Movie Series – Rocketman – FREE
The story of Elton John’s life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin. Join us every other month for this Free Movie Series in the Willingham Theater! All attendees will receive free popcorn and bottled water.
May 3 @ 6-9pm – Party on the Plaza with West End Mambo – FREE
The Yadkin Arts Council and the Town of Yadkinville are ready to party with the one and only West End Mambo! Put on your dancing shoes and join us on the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center plaza for live music, food trucks, and fun beverages!
May 18 @ 7:30pm – Henry Cho – $35
Critically acclaimed comic Henry Cho returns to the Willingham Theater for an evening of comedy you won’t want to miss! His distinctive style of “edgy, but clean” humor will delight audience members of all ages.
June 8 @ 2pm – Cinema Spectacular Free Movie Series – Back to the Future – FREE
An eccentric scientist builds a time machine, which accidentally transports a high-school student back to the 1950s, where the teen inadvertently interferes with the budding romance between his future parents. The boy must figure out how to set things right, or risk completely altering the future. Join us every other month for this Free Movie Series in the Willingham Theater! All attendees will receive free popcorn and bottled water.
June 22 @ 7:30pm – Kelley & the Cowboys – $22
“If you love real country music, the kind they used to make in the heyday of classic country, you are in for a treat! Kelley has been called “more Patsy Cline than Patsy Cline” by The Raleigh News and Observer, and said to have “a barn burnin’ attitude with the boots to match.”

Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
August 17 @ 7:30pm – Camel City Yacht Club – $25

Songs From The Road Band is an Asheville, North Carolina based bluegrass supergroup featuring Mark Schimick (mandolin), Charles Humphrey III (bass), Sam Wharton (guitar), James Schlender (fiddle), and Gabe Epstein (banjo).
September 21 @ 10am-3:30pm – Yadkin Valley Harvest Festival – FREE
The Yadkin Valley Harvest Festival is an annual event where, for one day of the year, the entire downtown area of Yadkinville is transformed by celebration and fun festivities! Festivities include activities for every member of the family, live music, agricultural displays, food vendors, and more.
October 7 @ 7:30pm – Jeff Little Trio – $22
Jeff Little is an award-winning musician from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. With few exceptions, the piano does not play a prominent part in Appalachian or Americana music, and is rarely the lead instrument. But Jeff Little is an exception – and a remarkable one.

Based on the novel, The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth, Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce, complete with mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds and a corpse in a wheelchair.
November 16 @ 7:30pm – Scythian – $35
Washington DC-based Scythian (sith-ee-yin) began over 12 years ago as a bunch of college buddies playing Celtic music in the streets and has grown to be a headliner on the US Celtic Festival Circuit as well as a name in the Bluegrass/Americana Festival Circuit. They found that their brand of high-energy folk music found a resonance that led The Washington Post to state: “Scythian’s enthusiasm is contagious, and shows seem to end with everyone dancing, jumping around or hoisting glasses.”
December 12-14 @ 7:30pm / December 15 @ 3pm – She Loves Me – $24
Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance. The Mikos Lazlos play Parfuemerie, on which it is based, has inspired many adaptations, including the beloved film You’ve Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.
