HURRICANE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Around 10 am this morning, a semi pulling a flatbed trailer (hauling a truck) was hit by a train at the crossing near City Hall and Hurricane High School, according to Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards.
The train only hit the trailer (including the truck that was being hauled), ripping it from the semi truck. The driver was shaken up, but not hurt.
The train pushed the trailer and the truck it was hauling west and got stopped directly behind Hurricane City Hall. The engine is upright, but partially derailed. There was no fire or injuries reported.
Currently, the crossing where it happened is blocked, Tackett’s Branch Road crossing is blocked and the entrance to Meeks Mountain Trails is blocked. Â
Edwards says he has no information on how long it will take CSX to get the crossings opened.
He also urges people to not walk across the coupled train cars as they could be moved at any time.
