LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia school district is piloting a new school bus stop arm, which is currently liked by the driver testing out the new arm.
Lincoln County Schools (LCS) has decided to pilot a 5.5-foot-long school bus stop arm on one of its school buses.
The arm is equipped with neon red lights. Bus Gates, a parent-owned Illinois-based company, created the product.
LCS is the first school district in West Virginia to begin using this type of arm on its school buses.
LCS says the bus driver testing out the new arm “loves it and feels that it does help vehicles stop sooner.”
In West Virginia, running a school bus stop sign for the first offense is a fine between $250 and $500 and/or imprisonment in jail for no more than 6 months.

The third or any subsequent offense is a fine of $1,000 and imprisonment no less than 48 hours but no more than 6 months.
