SIMON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man faces charges following a domestic incident which occurred earlier this month.
According to Deputy Tucker Cook of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, on Friday, January 12, 2024, at approximately 1:50am, authorities were called to respond to a domestic incident taking place in the Simon area.
Upon arriving at the residence in question, Deputy Cook observed a male – identified as Jeremy Hopson, 40 years old of Simon, WV – lying on the floor and blood could be observed throughout the room.
A juvenile involved stated that they had received a call from a family member stating that Hopson was outside the residence attempting to fight different individuals, at which point they retrieved a Glock 22 from inside the home and went to check on events which were transpiring.
The individual recalls encountering Hopson holding a kitchen knife and beginning to approach the individual. The juvenile then fired off two warning shots, at which point Hopson continued his advance and pushed the individual, prompting several strikes to Hopson’s head with the firearm.
It was at this time that a male family member inside responded to the commotion, retrieving a firearm and checking to see what was going on. Hopson began to approach the male with the kitchen knife when the male struck him in the head with the firearm.
The two reportedly fell to the ground at this point and began to exchange punches before the male was able to gather the weapons and call 911.
When EMS arrived at the scene, it was advised that Hopson had sustained a serious head injury and required flight to the nearest hospital. Health Net cancelled the transport en route to the landing zone due to weather, however, and Hopson was transported to receive medical care by ambulance.
As a result of these incidents, Jeremy Hopson has been charged with Domestic Battery and two counts of Brandishing a Deadly Weapon,
