Faye & Co. Salon- a boho salon specializing in color techniques, cutting and nail services- opened its doors to the public on Monday, November 23, only four months after acquiring the salon space located at 301 City Avenue in Beckley.
Owner of the salon, Kyndl Miller, 26, shared her excitement to have a small business in southern West Virginia.
Originally from Piney View, Miller hopes to be a valuable resource for her neighbors.
“I want to set a good example,” she explained. “I feel like we’ve worked hard to get where we are, and I am excited to serve the community and show that nothing is impossible. You can do anything you put your mind to.”
Miller graduated from Concord University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in business and in January of 2015, she enrolled in beauty school at the Academy of Careers and Technology (ACT) in Beckley.
“After that, I always wanted to have a shop of my own,” the stylist said of her time at ACT.
Following her graduation from beauty school, Miller moved to Princeton where she worked in a salon for several years.
“When I went to Princeton, I had a lot of clients driving from Beckley. When I came back two years ago, it was a good move for me and my clients here.”
Miller purchased the building space for Faye & Co., which previously housed Shear Style Salon, in July and immediately got to work decorating the space.
While Miller is currently the salon’s only stylist, she can hire five more stylists and hopes to do so as the business grows.
Aside from hair styling, Faye & Co. Salon also offers nail salon services. Marsha Bailey is the salon’s nail technician and has been in the business for 12 years.
As the salon grows and expands, Miller wants to offer even more cosmetic services to the community including massages, eyelash extensions, microblading, and permanent makeup services.
“I’m definitely super excited. It’s a little nerve-wracking but I think it’s a positive thing to show that you can do anything you want if you try.”
