CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Of the numerous functions fulfilled by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, some of the most essential and beneficial come in the form of the many services and benefits made available to West Virginia residents by the department.
However, it is often the case that those to whom such assistance could be of the most substantial aid lack the guidance, resources, or general understanding necessary to take full advantage of the benefits available to them.
As a means of navigating these types of issues, the Cabinet Secretary’s Office has implemented a new initiative, Resource Rundown, through Kids Thrive Collaborative, which is geared toward the clarification and explication of services available to parents experiencing behavioral issues with their children.
The series, a weekly recurring webinar facilitated by Assistant to the Cabinet Secretary, Marilyn Pearce, breaks down the fundamentals of available services and how they can best be accessed and most effectively utilized.
This entails the basic process of accessing services, who to contact in various scenarios, and guidance for navigating the legal jargon frequently associated with government administered programs which can be confusing to some beneficiaries.
An opportunity is presented to webinar participants each week for the submission of any questions regarding the topics being discussed, as well as general queries regarding services and assistance.
These submissions see direct response by email through Kids Thrive Collaborative, and will also be posted to the Kids Thrive Website as guidance for others who may have similar questions in the future.
Participants will also receive a survey by email as a means of providing feedback for each week’s session, “because sometimes improvements are necessary,” as Pearce noted at the conclusion of a recent session.
The series seeks to emphasize and reiterate that services are free to parents and caregivers, and that inquiry about or active participation in services does not equate to the involvement of law enforcement or Child Protective Services.
Resource Rundown sessions are held every Tuesday at noon, and those who wish to register can do so here.
Those who wish to participate but are unable to attend the live webinar need not worry, as session recordings are available to reference at the Kids Thrive Resource Rundown webinar page.
