BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia has long been known as the Mountain State, and for good reason. The natural beauty and rich history of the area – underscored by the prevalence of grand, foliage-adorned mountain terrain – make it a prime destination for those looking to establish a more intimate connection with the world around them.
Little Beaver State Park, with its 562 acres of picturesque, panoramic scenery, presents an ideal resource for anyone looking to get away from it all.
The scenic locale seems to wrap itself around the sprawling, 18 acre lake at its center, which offers year-round angling along with seasonal paddling boarding, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboat rentals.
20 miles of trails bring guests face-to-face with the wildlife for which West Virginia has become known, including the state flower – the rhododendron – and magnificent forest trees, many of which began their ascent skyward long before most guests began the journey of life.
With any luck, those traversing the trails or lake banks at Little Beaver will be able to observe rafts or waddlings of mallards exploring the area, and may even bear witness to mother ducks piloting lines of ducklings in search of a meal.
Little Beaver’s trails provide ideal opportunities for hiking, biking, and exploring by way of ATV.
Five picnic shelter areas featuring tables and grills lend the area to gatherings of all types, and nearby playground areas ensure that the little ones will have an effective outlet during downtime at the park.
Camping is also available at the park upon reservation, with areas that can accommodate up to forty guests. The Little Beaver campground features 16 campsites with hookups for water, and 30 sites for hookups for water and electric.
A large bathhouse with laundry facilities, a central dump station, wireless Internet access at the camp store, picnic tables, and grills, as well as firewood and ice available for purchase, ensure that campers will have all the amenities needed for an enjoyable stay.
First established in 1972 as a day-use park, Little Beaver State Park became a popular recreational attraction in the 1940s when the damming of Little Beaver Creek created the 18-acre lake that remains a prominent feature today.
