(LOOTPRESS) – Global iron and steel production declined from July to August by -3%.
Iron and steel production declined in Europe by -5.8%, North American output was unchanged (10m tons). Production in South America increased by +5.2% month over month. Output in India also increased slightly from July to August by +1%. Steel production in Japan slipped by -1.2% from the previous month, while South Korea increased its steel production by +0.8%. Chinese iron and steel production declined month over month by -4%. Excluding China, adjusted global iron and steel production declined from July by -1.7%.
Compared to the same eight months of 2020, year to date global iron and steel production is up +10.6%. +24.3% in Europe, +21.8% in North America, +24% in South America, +29% in India, +11% in Japan, +5.1% in South Korea and +5.4% in China. Excluding China, adjusted total global iron and steel production is +18% higher than the same time last year.
