UPDATE: James Monroe High School is no longer on lockdown due to a potential threat.
According to Monroe County Schools, the modified lockdown implemented for James Monroe High has been lifted after a potential threat initially believed to have been directed at the school was verified to have made toward a different facility.
While it had been confirmed that James Monroe High School was not the intended recipient of the “potential threat,” it is unclear at the time of writing to which school, if any, this threat was initially directed.

LINDSIDE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Law enforcement is currently investigating a school threat issued on Monday morning which has resulted in lockdown procedures for the students at James Monroe High School.
Monroe County Schools reports that a potential threat was received in an unnamed county in the northwestern region of West Virginia. It has been indicated that the threat could potentially have been directed at James Monroe High School, although this is not certain at the time of writing.
Nonetheless, the school has been placed on what is being called “modified lockdown” status, presumedly as a precautionary measure, as law enforcement conducts and investigation into the purported threat.
The incident comes as the latest in a series of school threats which have been reported over the past several weeks, including a threat to Point Pleasant High School which resulted in lockdown procedures last week.
