BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce will be bringing a Job & Resource Fair to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center later this month to offer a host of opportunities to residents of the Beckley area and beyond.
Scheduled to take place over the course of two days – May 18 and May 19 – the Job & Resource Fair has been brought to the area in collaboration with New River Community and Technical College, Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley, Inc., Work Force West Virginia, US Senator Joe Manchin, and several other local entities.
Senator Manchin paid a visit to Beckley last month in promotion of the upcoming event, stating that everyone from those looking for jobs in a specific field to those unsure of how to get started would find something of value at the Jobs & Resource Fair.
“The bottom line of it is, there are so many jobs that aren’t filled. So if you feel like you don’t have a job that’s challenging enough or rewarding enough, you should come. There are going to be plenty of opportunities.,” said Senator Manchin.
“If you’re out of work [and] looking for a good job, definitely you should come. If you don’t think you have the educational skills to move yourself up, let us help you get those skills. This is the place to be!”
The fair will feature booths from an array of local employers who will offer information and applications on various available positions. Also available at the event will be resume assistance, networking opportunities, and marketing/career opportunities for the greater Beckley and Raleigh County community.
“There are plenty of great jobs here in West Virginia, everything from jobs surrounding the hospitality industry and trade jobs to professional jobs, so we just really wanted to be able to showcase it,” said Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce President Michelle Rotellini.
“As we hear over and over again, ‘if you can’t see it, you can’t be it,’ so this is really an opportunity for the workforce to come out and see what’s there.”
