FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mt. Hope man was sentenced to prison Monday on charges relating to a traffic stop conducted in 2021.
According to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Fayette County, at approximately 3:30 am on October 2, 2021, a vehicle was pulled over in Fayette County for defective equipment by the Fayetteville Police Department.
Officers approaching the vehicle reported visible drug paraphernalia in plain sight inside.
A search of the vehicle was soon conducted, resulting in the discovery of a quantity of fentanyl, approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine, and a handgun, along with scales, other paraphernalia.
These findings resulted in the arrest of the three individuals occupying the vehicle including Yoshua T. Dewall, a passenger.
On Monday, November 28, 2022, Yoshua T. Dewall, 25 years old of Mt. Hope, West Virginia, was sentenced to no less than one and no more than fifteen years in prison by Circuit Judge Thomas H. Ewing for the felony crime of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
Additionally, Dewall was sentenced to ten years in prison for the crime of conspiracy.
Dewall is reported to have pled guilty to both offenses on Thursday, October 6, 2022.
Both the 1-15 year and 10 year sentences were ordered by Circuit Judge Ewing to be served consecutively, and Dewall must serve a minimum of three years and six months in prison before being eligible for parole.
The investigation was conducted by the Fayetteville Police Department and the case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Fayette County Sarah F. Smith.
