Paula Dale White, 73, of Logan, WV, passed away on July 31, 2021 at Logan Regional Medical Center. Paula was under the care of Dr. Billy Mullens a longtime family friend. She was born in Logan, WV, on October 1, 1947, daughter of the late Jack and Opal White. She is survived by Eddie (Ellen) White, Tony Quinn, Paul Quinn, Joanna Rodighiero, Kathy Samson, Cindy Bailey, Karen Bragg. Rhein Buskirk, James D (Hannah) Buskirk, Natalie Buskirk-Murphy, Kaitlyn Buskirk, James R Buskirk, Brenna Buskirk, and Sophia Murphy.
Paula graduated from Logan High School in 1965. She attended Marshall University and received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education. Paula also attended Art School in Philadelphia, PA. Paula spent her career teaching for Logan County Schools, as well as teaching at Southern West Virginia Technical College. Paula was chair of various clubs during her teaching career. Paula touched many hearts and inspired her students to be imaginative and creative.
Paula was a longtime affiliate with the Saint Francis of Assisi’s Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the First Baptist Church of Logan. She had a strong faith in God and in her spirituality. She gently instilled in others a desire to be kinder, less judgmental, more giving and more forgiving.
Paula adopted hundreds of animals over the years, feeding, rescuing and providing medical care for them. She was a humble person who avoided the limelight and was uncomfortable with receiving accolades and praise. Her countless acts of kindness were performed quietly and very often, anonymously.
Paula was incredibly creative. She was a gifted writer and poet, an accomplished artist and an exceptional pianist and organist. Paula was also involved for many years with the National Writers Workshop and the Antioch Writers Workshop.
Paula had a vast knowledge of local history, architecture, folklore, and art. Paula also had a deep passion to read, she loved books, hot tea and a good cup of coffee.
As a friend, Paula was generous with her time, steadfast, loyal, and uplifting. As a family member Paula gave no judgements, unconditional love, support and rational, logical guidance. She will be missed deeply, always.
A Gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, with entombment following at 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
Services will be officiated by Reverend, Michael Hatfield, Father Golla, and Deacon Denny Frost
