BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Activity throughout several areas in the Downtown Beckley area were placed on hold as authorities conducted an investigation into an apparent incident of gunfire on Wednesday night.
According to the WVU Tech Police Department, Beckley Police officers were actively investigating the E Street and South Fayette Street areas at 9:42pm on Wednesday with shots reported to have been fired.
Less than an hour prior, law enforcement was reported to have been conducting a K-9 track in the Minnesota Avenue and West Virginia Street areas.
As investigations were underway, WVU Tech Police Department issued multiple warnings for residents to avoid the areas involved in the investigation and to remain inside until such a time as the areas in question were determined to be adequately safe to accommodate civilians.
Shortly after 10:00pm, WVU Tech Police gave indication that the areas involved in the investigation had been cleared for the resuming of regular activity.
The exact nature of the incident, along the identities of any potential suspects involved, have yet to be disclosed at the time of writing additionally, it is unclear at the time of writing whether any injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.
