GRANDVIEW, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Uncooperative weather conditions continue to plague Theatre West Virginia’s 62nd season, as Saturday’s opening production of Rocket Boys has been postponed yet again due to lingering rain showers.
In a Saturday morning announcement, Theatre West Virginia General Manager Scott Hill advised that the July 9 opening of the musical, unfortunately, would not be going ahead as planned.
“Due to continuing inclement weather Theatre West Virginia has been forced to postpone their opening night from tonight July 9 until Thursday night July 14 of Rocket Boys the musical,” read the release. “All tickets will be honored at upcoming events at Grandview.”
It was also announced that Raleigh General Hospital Senior Friends Night would be rescheduled for Saturday, July 16.
“The staff at Theatre West Virginia appreciates the [community’s] continuing support of the arts in Southern West Virginia,” the announcement continued. “Thank you for your understanding see you soon at Theatre West Virginia.”
The announcement follows the initial rescheduling of opening night from Friday, July 8 – LOOTPRESS coverage of which can be seen here – due to technical issues, along with weather conditions.
Inclement weather has been a recurring theme throughout the season, as the organization’s June 22 production of Hatfields and McCoys was cut short due to heavy storms moving in during intermission – LOOTPRESS coverage of this production can be seen here.
