She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years James L. Jones, her parents, and three sisters, Mildred Robertson, Velva Adkins, and Dean Floyd. Mrs. Jones was a member of Johnston Chapel Church in Princeton, WV, and served many years as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and children’s church worker in Wyoming County churches. She was a caregiver to many family members, and was well known for being an excellent cook and homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra “Sherry” Valdes and her husband Jim of Titusville, FL, and Judy Canterbury and her husband Larry of Rock Hill, SC. Grand- children are Michael (Debbie) Valdes of Jupiter, FL; Allison (Mark) Galbreath of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Rebecca (Jason) Leifert of St. Augustine, FL; and Benjamin (Christina) Canterbury of Rock Hill, SC. Great-grand children are Kimberly and A.J. Valdes of Jupiter, FL; Alexander and Zoya Galbreath of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Abel Canterbury of Rock Hill, SC, and Caleb Canterbury Mulhern of Matthews, NC.
She will also be sadly missed by siblings June Wright of Beckley, WV; Carolyn (C.W.) Watson of Murrells Inlet, SC; Frank Aldridge of Tupelo, MS; and Rev. Ernest (Martha) Aldridge of Morristown, TN. Other dearly-loved survivors are sisters-in-law Peggy Jones Harless of Oceana, WV; and Drema (Bob) Coulter of Morristown, TN; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and friend Ruby Smith of Lynco, WV.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Halsey officiating. Committal services and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. The family requests that all visitors please honor the well-being of all by wearing masks.
