BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals have been arrested in connection to instances of recurring battery and equipment theft in Raleigh County.
According to information released by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, Brian Andrew Webb of Rock Creek and Jerry Cook Jr of Pine Branch have been arrested for a June 7, 2022 incident during which items were stolen from a Diversified Energy pump site on Upper Sandlick Road.
The stolen batteries and items were recovered from the Upper Sandlick Road location, along with two additional locations on Bolt Mountain.
Diversified Energy has reported a number of thefts of batteries and equipment from gas and compressor sites throughout Southern WV, which led to the installation of electronic devices at site locations to combat the issue.
These devices were responsible for notifying Diversified Energy that items had been taken from the Upper Sandlick Road location, and aided in the eventual apprehension of the perpetrators.
Brian Andrew Webb and Jerry Cook Jr are currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $30,000 bond, and face charges of Breaking and Entering, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and three counts of Petit Larceny.
The investigation is being handled by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Lester and Sophia Police Departments.
