HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is arrested after he allegedly bit another man’s finger off over an orange.
Officers say they responded to an apartment on 4th Avenue in Huntington on March 12, 2023, over a disturbance. Once they arrived, the victim told police that Troy Tassen had walked to his apartment to get a cigarette. Once inside, the victim said Tassen walked and stood at the kitchen counter. After some time, the victim said he watched Tassen grab an orange off the counter and stick it in his pocket.
When the victim asked Tassen why he was stealing from him, it turned physical. Tassen allegedly knocked the victim to the ground, and during the altercation, Tassen allegedly bit the suspect’s finger off.
The suspect says that the victim attacked him by “glancing blows” across his face and attempted to gouge out his eyes, but police say they observed no injuries to the suspect. Police say they observed the victim missing the tip of his right middle finger.
Tassen was charged with malicious assault. He is being held under a 50,000 dollar bond.
