UPDATE: POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An investigation into a dead body discovered in the Mason County area on Friday has led to the arrest of one individual in connection to the incident.
39-year-old Ryan Marshall was arrested shortly after the discovery of the body, and faces charges of First Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and Grand Larceny.
Members of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon were called to the Belle Road area to conduct a welfare check. It was during this visit that a body was discovered, and a homicide investigation was swiftly set into motion by the MCSO in conjunction with the West Virginia State Police.
“These are the kind of situations that, although tragic, highlight the capable and dedicated individuals we have working for us here in Mason County,” said Mason County Prosecuting Attorney, Seth Gaskins of the development. “The experience and determination that these officers exhibit, especially under these stressful circumstances, make me proud to serve.”

POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One suspect has been arrested following the discovery of a dead body at a Mason County residence.
According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:00pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a well-check on Belle Road in Mason County.
Authorities report that a body was found at the residence, and that the felony arrest of one suspect was conducted shortly afterward in relation to the death in the town of Point Pleasant.
The body is believed to have been the victim of a murder, which is now the subject of a joint investigation being conducted by members of the West Virginia State Police and Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
“We would like to advise the local community the area is safe and the only suspect is in custody at this time.,” said the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. “We would like to extend our thanks to the Point Pleasant Police Department for assisting with the felony arrest.”
