It is with great sadness that the family of announce his passing. Jeffery Alexander Leonard, 53, a lifelong resident of Lester, WV, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the loving arms of his wife at their home as a result of a sudden illness.
Jeff was born on February 9, 1970, in Beckley, WV. Jeff was a 1988 graduate of Liberty High School and took great pride in his career as an electrician in the coal industry.
There are special people in life who never leave us, even after they are gone. Jeff was certainly one of those people. He touched the lives of everyone he met and he will never be forgotten. Jeff was physically and mentally strong, never afraid to speak his mind, and honest to a fault. He was a loving husband and father, loyal friend, and fierce protector of his entire family. Jeff was a fun spirited man who’s humor and quick wit could make any situation better. He wanted to make others smile, even in the face of his own tragedies, and his intoxicating laugh will never be forgotten. Jeff always lived life to the fullest enjoying many hobbies including fishing; going fast on his Harley or in his Shelby GT 500; enjoying and improving his home; and, most importantly, spending time with his wife, son, family, friends and his dog, Ruger.
Jeff was greeted in Heaven by his son Alex Leonard, whom he loved more than life itself. We are taking comfort that they are celebrating a joyous reunion. Jeff was also greeted by grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Jeff is survived by his wife of almost 31 years, best friend, and love of his life, Tammy Leonard, as well as his parents Alex and Beckley Leonard of Princeton; Ginger Ford of Beckley; and Mark Ford of Beckley. Jeff will be dearly missed by his step-son Joseph (Amy) Daniel of Conway, Arkansas; his grandbabies, Addison, Aubrey and Judah of Conway, Arkansas; his sister, Sarah Harmon of Princeton; his brother, Phil Leonard of Layton, in the Florida Keys; his brother, Wes Leonard of Princeton; and all of his nieces and nephews.
Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean. Death is a new beginning and Jeff will be forever in our memories and hearts.
