SURVEYOR, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Less than ideal weather conditions have been the foil of a number of celebrations over the weekend as the eagerly anticipated Fourth of July holiday approaches.
Sunday’s rains have not been enough to put Lake Stephens’ planned festivities on hold, however, despite conditions Saturday resulting in the early closure of the site’s beach, splash pad, and aqua park attractions.
As of 3:00pm Sunday afternoon, the evening’s celebrations appear to be moving ahead as planned.
Sunday’s events – sponsored by 99.5 WJLS and Whitesville State Bank, and held in conjunction with the Raleigh County Parks & Recreation Authority – will include a dance party on the beach.
The beach itself, along with the concession stand, will open at 5:00pm. Music from Abe One DJs will be featured, along with cool treats from Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice. Fireworks will begin at 10:00pm.
